Professor Jia-Yee Lee

​

Jia-Yee Lee is Enterprise Professor (Medtech) at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies and Co-Manager at the ARC Training Centre for Medical Implant Technologies. She is passionate about developing a sustainable innovation eco-system in Australia. Her experience in technology startup and commercialisation and in designing and implementing research-industry engagement programs has provided her with the insights to drive value creation and foster entrepreneurship. Jia-Yee is on the Steering Committee of the BridgeTech Program that is hosted by Queensland University of Technology and is a member of the Training Advisory Commitee of the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations (ACADI) at the University of Melbourne. She was also a mentor to the CivVic Labs, a Victorian accelerator program that is part of the LaunchVic program.  Jia-Yee was previously with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services where she developed strategies in health and medical research, and in data and information management; she is the lead author of the Victorian Health and Medical Research Strategy 2016-2020. She was formerly Director, Health and Life Sciences at National ICT Australia (NICTA, now Data61) where she led engineers, researchers in computing and information systems and mathematicians across several teams e.g. Diagnostic Genomics, Assistive Technologies and Biomedical Informatics to develop innovative medical technologies. She has sound experience with the implementation of enterprise grade software applications that have been developed using Agile methods. Jia-Yee has spent more than twenty years in medical research having led NHMRC funded projects. Jia-Yee has a PhD (Virology) from University of Melbourne and MBA from Melbourne Business School.
