2023 ARC CMIT Annual Symposium

ARC CMIT recently hosted a highly successful two-day annual symposium on October 26-27, 2023, at the University of Melbourne. The event saw the participation of colleagues from Griffith University and Flinders University, along with partners from Anatomics, Maxoniq, and Materialise.

On the second day, the symposium featured a keynote address by Dr. Olga Panagiotopoulou, who discussed using anatomy and mechanics to improve oral and maxillofacial health outcomes. The day also included presentations from ARC CMIT's industry partners;

- Monica Russell who provided insights into the journey of Ontic Ortho Solutions, a company she co-founded with A/Prof David John Saxby highlighting the progression from research to reality.

- Robert Thompson discussed the array of surgical products manufactured by the company.

- Stuart Douglas presented Maxoniq's journey from research to reality

Additionally, A/Prof Chris Carty from Griffith University shared his and Dr Martina Barzan's experiences participating in the Lumina- X Healthcare accelerator program https://lnkd.in/gYgMpg8y.

ARC CMIT Research Fellows and PhD students gave brief presentations to showcase the progress of their research, providing valuable insights.

The symposium served as a great opportunity for all participants to reconnect and network. We eagerly anticipate the next annual symposium and look forward to further collaborative opportunities.

The first day was marked by a tour of the CAREN lab -https://lnkd.in/gj4QEZ3f

and a delightful dinner at the University of Melbourne's Woodward Conference Centre, where everyone had a chance to relax and enjoy the music of Red, Red, Red band. Notably, ARC CMIT's very own A/Prof David Ackland showcased his musical talents as the keyboard player of the band.
