Congratulations to Dr. Dale Robinson for winning the David Finlay ECR award at the ANZORS 25th Scientific Meeting held in Canberra on 4-6th October 2019, an award presented for the best presentation/paper by an early career researcher at the conference.
Dale presented a paper on the application of acoustic emission sensors to detect vertebral body fractures. This research established that these sensors may be used to detect small fractures within the vertebra that are difficult to identify using existing methods. Results from this work may be used to better study vertebral fracture initiation and progression, and has applications in the detection or prevention of inadvertent fractures in orthopaedic surgery.
